Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

I don't know

I am not even sure that I have chosen the proper area of the law to address this situation. My question is in regards to a twenty-nine year old woman. Five years ago, due to an illness, she was in a coma for seven months.

During that time her mother was granted power of attorney over her. Her recovery was lengthy. The young lady still lives in her mother's home. Her mother still has control of her finances, and is the payee for her SSI check. The young lady still suffers from periodic siezures, but is quite capable of making her on decisions. She wishes to marry, and allow her young man to become her payee. Can her mother legally stop her from doing so?

Re: I don't know

It is most likely that her mother has been made her conservator by the Chancery Court. She can certainly petition to have the conservatorship modified or terminated based upon a change in her medical circumstances. There may be several other issues to discuss to see if that is possible. Let me know if you would like to discuss further.
