Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

collection agency and divorce

I married a man and we had a daughter. I had two previous daughters. when we divorced we did not have to go in front of the judge but we did have seperate lawyers and we all agreed. the question i have is if i agreed to pay certain bills and the judge signed off on that. the problem is the credit agency says they do not have to go by the divorce papers or the judge. is this not an legal order?

Re: collection agency and divorce

It is only legal between the two of you; if one of you is not living up to the obligation, then you would back to same judge and ask the judge to hold the non-complying party in contempt.

Good luck.
