Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

transfer of custody

I am moving out of my parents' home next into an unrelated family's home. In order to attend school there, my parents have to transfer custody to the mother. They do not want to involve any lawyers. What should we do first off and what is the process? This needs to be done as soon as possible.

Re: transfer of custody

You can do a power of attorney giving this new "parent" the authority to act in your parent's place but it may not be recognized or considered if it is not drafted by an attorney. Getting an attorney is your best option but if you think you can get by with a power of attorney, try to do that.
