Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Tennessee

Tv shows

Say Titanic or some other movie is coming on network TV. They are going to edit it before they show it...they will take out most of the cussing and any other parts not deemed suitable for network tv. Is it then all right to tape the movie off of TV and keep it just for my own personal viewing since the version they show is ''cleaner'' and different than what is available at the store. Also are there any rules dictating when it is or is not ok to tape something off of TV to keep for my own personal viewing pleasure in the future? Single tape only, no profit and if it ever comes available on the market I will buy it and tape over my TV copy. Thanks..:)

Re: Tv shows

What you propose...single archive copy for personal non-commercial use is legal. Even if it were not, such would be too insignificant for any large movie studio to go after you individually.
