Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Bought a dog for my son on 2/01/12 since his other dog died.about 6 months later got call from mother asking for money to get the dog out of the vets office because he ate something bad ,this is a Mut dog &i paid 20$ for him.the vet bill was 790.00 $.weade a verbal agreement for her to pay back.she still has not payed anything 2 date. My question is could I take her to small claims court on a verbal agreement & win.have copy of canceled check. She states since I bought the dog that I was responsible 4 the bill.i have only seen the dog a few times.

If you are not married, you should be able to take her to small claims court. However, you will need to prove that there was a verbal agreement that she repay you. If the check was to her that will help. If you paid the vet directly, you will need to show that she brought the vet to the office. I can't tell you if you will win. I think you have some good arguments.
