Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

garnishment in texas

I was put out of work last year for approximately 5 months. I got behind on a couple of credit card and signature loan. The creditor wants the total amount due and nothing less. I don't have this amount. If I am sued and the creditor is granted a judgement, can my checking account be garnished?

Bank accounts may generally be garnished, but he can not garnish current wages (before you get them to your bank).
