Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I was sued for a credit card debt and had a judgement for the amount I owed. I paid the amount and have all of the papers to prove it. Today I received a call from a lawyer who said a collection company that he represents has bought my account and I will be sued if I do not settle with them. How can they do this?

People do things all the time that are wrong.

This lawyer is threatening to do something that is wrong.

Get his address and mail him copies of your paperwork. Stop talking to him on the phone - demand that he put everything in WRITING.

And if he does sue you for a debt that you've already paid, counter-sue for deceptive trade practices, fraud, and violation of fair debt collection practices (state and federal).
