Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Agg Sexual Assault

A close friend of mine was convicted of aggravated sexual assault on a child in 1995. He was sentenced to 10 years probabtion w/ deferred adjudication. After serving more than 9 years of his probation and paying almost 95% of all the fees and fines - his probation officer revoked his probation for failure to register...Now he is serving his 10 years in prison. With his charge being aggravated (since the victim was 13 at the time of the incident) he has to serve at least 1/2 of the sentence before being eligible for parole - Is there anything an attorney can do to help? It just doesn't seem fair. Wouldn't he get some kind of credit for all the years he completed on his probation?

Hi there,

I understand your frustration however, your friend is not going to get any credit for the time he was on probation.
