Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Cases split

My son was arrested for buglary of vehicle and theft of a firearm, which they took from the car. He was given 18 mths def. adj. for buglary and completed. He was then indicted for the theft (it took 18 mths..were they just waiting to see if he completed the probation for buglary?)He recieved 5yrs def. adj., why were they not tried at the same time? He would have already completed probation but the way it was handled he ended up with 7 yrs. probation...the gun wasn't used for anything..they just took it.(this was also first offense.) I am sure they had signed confessions at police station, when the officer called me, he told me my son was the only cooperating. Thank You

Re: Cases split

The second case should be dismissed, if the theft of the firearm occurred at the same time as the car burglary. You will need to hire a lawyer for this.
