Legal Question in DUI Law in Texas

Bell county job & DUI

Hello,

I was convicted over 5 yrs ago for DUI.

First offense. 56 year old female.

I'm applying for a county job at the Ag

office working with the coordinator of

the local 4H youth, will this prevent

me from getting the job? If so, is

there any recourse? I contested the

charge later after my conviction, so

that's no option.

Thank you very much for answering

my question.

Re: Bell county job & DUI

Hard to say. Usually a case that is not a felony and not moral turpitude (such as this) is a discretionary matter. Obviously it hurts you, when compared to a person with an unblemished record, but it may not take you out of the process. My advice would be to explain the circumstances in a matter-of-fact nature, and provide any information that establishes that alcohol will not be an impediment to your job.
