Legal Question in DUI Law in Texas

Driving while License Invalid-Texas

I got a DWI ( My first and ONLY)back in July of last year, and my license was suspended for a year. I won the ALR hearing, but not the case. I did get an essential needs license, but i didnt read the letter of the law on it, I was taking a friend home (not for work) and got stopped for speeding (did not get ticket for it) And FMFR (didnt have card, thats been dismissed)

As taking a ''friend'' is not an immediate realitve, they stated did not qualfy as an essential need. I also had a warrant (from back in 94!) I had forgotten about. I spent the night in the City jail. Posted bond. my question is this... Spent one night in Jail on this matter, am i getting further jail time? (First offense, already spent one night in jail) Second The dallas county states city of Irving has still not sent the paperwork over on the DWLI paperwork to set a court hearing, and its been going on for a month and a half (I am literally calling every week now to find out a courtdate)

I have some business trips i MUST make and im afraid when the city finally does make up its mind and gets the court date set, i wont be able to do it! How long does the County have to pursue this matter, Indefinately? This calling each week to be told nothing is getting old

You are probably going to need a lawyer to try to get that 1994 warrant dismissed, as well as rescue your license. You might as well hire one now, so that the lawyer handles the court dates and notices until the case is ready to proceed. It is not unusual for Irving to file their case several months later (I have no idea why), and it could surface tomorrow or in several months. (They have two years).
