Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My 17 year old daughter wants to come live with me, her mother says no, if she comes anyway can her mother cause her, or me legal problems, she turns 18 in September. My daughter and exwife live in CA, I live in TX. My ex is the custodial parent. Is it best if we wait until she is 18, she has already completed high school.

The moment the clock strikes 12 on her birthday, she is an adult in the State of Texas and she can live anywhere she wants. Neither parent can "control" her any more. She can do whatever she wants in the State of Texas.

If the court order is CA, then ask a CA attorney about CA law. I'm only licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. Look on this website & www.avvo.com for an attorney regarding CA law.

I hope this has been helpful.
