Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I have a 15 year old neice that there mother gave up to me and I have a piece of paper notarized her giving me 100 percent guardianship and now she wants to force her to go live with her but shes been living with me can her mother make her go and do I have legal standing? thank you Judy

The paper is legally worthless, except as some evidence that mom left the child with you.

Yes, she can make the child go back, unless there is a court order saying otherwise.

Yes, you have standing to seek primary managing conservatorship from the court if the child has been living with you for 6 months or more. See section 103.002(a)(9) of the Texas Family Code.

You should invest in a consultation with a good family law attorney so that you can develop a game plan for protecting this child.
