Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Emancipation

In 1993 My Ex-Wife died. At the time I could not

support my two children. I agreed to let them live,

with my Ex-Sister In Law and her husband. They adopted

the kids. I call and write every week end,Birthdays, and other holidays. My daughter is noe 16 and will be

17 in april. She wants to come down and live with me and my wife and our Son. Her adopted parents are not allowing her to leave. I was told she could legally move out at the age of 17 without consent. However the adopted parentssaid they found out, yes she can move out at 17 but must me completely self supporting.

I need to know if this is true. I also need to know if there is a way around this.

Re: Child Emancipation

I am really sorry but your question is lacking necessary details. In what state do you currently live? In what state does your daughter currently live? This is important because I cannot practice law in Texas. Only if your daughter lives in Nevada would I be able to answer your question.

Also you say that your child was adopted. Was this through a Court? Did you formally relinquish or have your parental rights terminated?

If you wish to supply answers to the questions I raised to more fully answer your question,

please post them at www.shermanlawoffices.bigstep.com and click on "Ask Nevada Law Quetions"

on the left border.
