Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Father getting full custody in Texas

How hard is it for the father to get full custody of the 3 year old in Texas? The father is soon to be married, and is financially more stable than the mother who has this child, plus another one from a different father, and still no serious relationship. Does this make it easier for the father to get the custody transferred over??

Re: Father getting full custody in Texas

That the father is financially stable, and the mom's lifestyle might be more flighty, are factors that can be brought out in court through evidence and testimony. The court is looking for what is in a child's best interest, and will look at many factors to make that decision, including what has changed since the last court order, and is it of enough consequence to make drastic changes in the child's life. I think that in this day and time, judges do not routinely favor mothers over fathers as in times past. I do think that they are hesitant to change the status quo without significant reason. Good luck to you. TCL
