Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am unsure of what to do. For the past 3 years I was certain who my son's father was, I had a case open with him with attorney general but they could never locate him. When I hired an attorney the attorney general put it on hold or something? I don't think they closed the case with them though. But she was able to locate him and help me create visitation orders and whatnot, but when we finally got him to get a paternity test done it turned out that he was not the father. I was/am devastated, embarrassed, and confused. I had a strange pregnancy and didn't find out about it until I was 7 1/2 months (the clinic I was at thought I was only 3 months). So I hate to say it (and am ashamed and embarrassed) but I honestly have no idea who it could be. My son is on CHIP and we are on CCMS and I know my next step is to go to attorney general again, I think, but do I need legal assistance with this? Should I hire an attorney again? How do you go about telling the attorney general you don't know who the father is, and will they help me still stay on CCMS and CHIP? I don't mind if I have to pay a little extra since I know the father is supposed to pay for those benefits, but full cost daycare is just too expensive.

I have no clue what my next step is.

Your best bet is to go through the Attorney General.

If you're on government assistance, you're required to sign up with them to have them attempt to establish paternity. Tell them the truth. Your situation is one that they've encountered before (they do LOTS of paternity suits).
