Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Guardianship for a minor child

My granddaughter is living with me so she could finish her senior year in a school that offered subjects that will help her to become a teacher. Her mother was a single mother and was killed last week in a car wreck. Can i get legal guardianship for her so I can see to her need medically and financially. I know I won't have a problem with her father because he hasn't been in her life that much but loves her. Can I get a kit then file it with a lawyer or the court. Which would I have to do. Please give me an answer soon as possible for I have to be able to se to her needs legally. Thank you I am not sure what area of law this would come under.

I can't give you advice on "kits". I don't use them and find them misleading at best. If you don't know how to do these things, it's best to hire a lawyer. Many lawyers will take payment plans. You should hurry on this. School is coming up and you will need these documents.
