Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Neighbors kid scratch car and does not want to pay

My neighbor's kid scratched my car with his bike and he does not want to pay for the damage. It was parked on the street infront of my house where it normally is. Is there any legal action I can do to get him to pay?

Re: Neighbors kid scratch car and does not want to pay

You can always sue your neighbor in Small Claims for the cost of repair. His homeowner's insurance should cover the cost of the paint job. Bear in mind that a lawsuit will result in severe and ongoing hostility with your neighbor, and the wear and tear may be far in excess of the repainting.

Ask him why he doesn't want to pay for the damage his kid accidentally caused. Maybe offer to pay part of the costs if you've gotten along with him in the past. It'll be much easier, and faster, if you can negotiate a reasonable solution.
