Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Not convicted of a felony

I am currently in nursing school, and the hospital where I am going to practice clinicals will not let me work in the hospital because I was accused of a crime but was NEVER convicted, so it is on my record. Can they do this. It happend 10 years ago. If I cannot be allowed to work in the hospital I will have to withdraw from school. Please advise.
