Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Overtime pay and sick leave

I work for a Baptist Church in TX. For 2.5 years. Most of the support staff (secretarial; technical) are not paid overtime or given comp time, particularly women. One man here is allowed to write off his extra hours on income tax; he's the only one. Question - is it legal to not pay overtime? Thanks.

Re: Overtime pay and sick leave

It is illegal not to pay overtime to non-exempt workers, and unlawful to permit some of the other activities you mention. You should contact a lawyer and explore your rights, as you and the others may be entitled to substantial compensation.
