Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Not paid after laid off

I was let go last Tuesday (the 10th)from a small company where I was the business development manager. After being laid off I was given a list of things I needed to return to the company, which I did by Friday. The next Wed (18th) my old boss emailed me and told me I needed to turn in some reports to him before he would give me my last paycheck. He said, ''he needed to feel good about paying me.'' I sent him some information and I was then told that it was not good enough and that I would not be receiving my last paycheck. Is it legal in Texas to not pay someone for the time they worked regardless of them quiting or being fired? My understanding is that I should be paid throught Tuesday the 10th regardless of me turning in a report a week after I was let go. Any infomation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Not paid after laid off

Contact the Texas Workforce Commission for unemployment benefits and also file a claim for pay under Payday Law..They will judge your facts and normally do justice
