Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

I am part of the opening crew of a new hotel downtown. I was hired as a full-time cocktail server for the lunch shift back in Oct. 2005. I worked in all areas of the food and beverage dept., (hostess, restaurant server). I am now an attendant and work a shift from 9 am- 2 pm.. My question is.....my husband and I was just awarded joint custody of my step-son in Feb. 2009. I have had restrictions on my schedule to have 1st, 3rd and 5th weekends off for the past 6 months. It was fine and now we have a new manager. He will not honor my restrictions ( I attached the custody form) and I wrote on my schedule request form...* If requests not possible...please change my full time status to part time. There is no one to watch my step son but me.

Can I change my status of employment and what are the chances, in your opinion, will they honor my restrictions? Can I get fired for any of this?
