Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

I work in a gym/spa at the front desk. We sell food and drink items in the cafe as well as skin and body products in our main atrium. When something goes missing from either, It is automatically charged at retail price amongst us at the front desk.Put onto our accounts and taken out of our pay. Is this legal?

WOW! I am not an employment law attorney, but if the amount being charged to all the employees totals a significant amount it may be worth calling around to a few employment law attorneys.
