This depends upon several factors:

Is there is a cause of action against your mother in law for your daughter's injuries?

Is this a substantial injury that will cost the insurance company lots of money (motivating them to avoid this loss) or is this a minor injury where the cost of suing your mother in law will exceed the cost of the claim?

Is this loss covered by homeowner's insurance coverage on the grandmother's home?
