In Texas, many of the laws affecting landlords and tenants are in the Property Code, which is a part of our state statutes. However, some laws affecting landlords and tenants, such as the laws relating to electrical, water, and gas service, are in the Utilities Code. In addition, the Courts in Texas have interpreted the state statutues in specific cases.
