Re: A CD found in a deceased aunt's safety deposite box.

I have no idea what the will actually passed, or what the CD actually said. If it had three names on it, I assume one was your deceased aunt. Who were the other two, and does it show as joint ownership?

If joint ownership, then your deceased aunt's portion would go to her estate first, then be distributed in accordance with the terms of her will. If her will mentioned only specific devises, and not a general transfer, then the portion may be divided up among her heirs at law as if there was no will.

The balance (2/3) may go to the other named individuals. There's a question whether the names were there for convenience only, or if there was, in fact, joint ownership.
