Death of adult child
My 26 year old nephew recently passed away after a brief stay in a critical care unit. He had private health insurance and no assets. Are his parents legally responsible for his hospital bill?

No, unless there are special circumstances like they signed some document for the hospital promising to pay his bills. The hospital may try to collect from them, but generally they are not liable and do not have to pay.
