How long does an estate need stay open in the State of Texas if all debts/matters have been paid/resolved?

It can stay opened forever, unless there's a specific need to close it.

If an estate is closed, and sometime later an asset pops up, then the executor/administrator has to move to have the estate reopened. It's usually simpler just to keep it opened, since it costs nothing to do so.
