Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Medical Bills on the Deceased

My mother passed away leaving a few medical bills, not unpaid, but balances that the insurance company negotiated at a lower rate. The bills are in Texas where she died. How responsible is the estate to these bills that are ''paid'', except for the patient portion. I am the Executrix and live in another state. I have received collection notices but I am not sure her estate owes unsecured medical bills.

The estate is responsible for the patient portion.

Be aware that if the claims are legitimate, and they are formally made in the probate court but remain unpaid, you may be personally liable for their attorney fees if suit is brought against the estate.
