Probate law Texas

Is it a crime for an heir to destroy/hide a will (to force intestate), or is this a civil matter?

Re: Probate law Texas

It is clearly a civil matter, as the Probate Court would find someone in contempt and can even jail them if necessary. The Probate Court can also probate the Will without the original if needed if there is other evidence available of its contents.

As to criminal, it is possible that there could be theft or other related criminal charges depending upon the circumstances
