Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

No will in Texas

My stepdad died and left no will and he had a house before he & my mom married. They were still married at the time of his death and he has a son (not of the marriage) they didn't get a chance to put her on the deed neither is the son listed. Is my mother entitled to something with regard to the house?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Your mother may have a constitutional homestead right and perhaps (but not sure) some right of reimbursement for any payments made on the debt (if any) from community property. You should contact a lawyer. Where are u located in Texas?

Your mother has a homestead right and a life estate in the property. The son gets the real estate after your mother passes on.
