Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Utah

My mother's ex-boyfriend falsely accused me of fraud on a car loan he co-signed for (to the point the police didn't bother investigating or submit a report due to their lack of faith in his claim).

The resulting chaos has included my car being repossessed while I was in Germany on business with my wife and 10 month old daughter home alone at the time. This caused obvious financial stress and credit issues. All of this resulted in me losing out on a lucrative job offer that was rescinded due to my losing my company AmEx card trying to pay things off after the stress.

What are my options as far as libel/ slander and / or defamation? I wanted to just pray Karma would catch up with him and he'd reap his "rewards", but he is continuing to harass my mother and me by filing ludicrous lawsuits against my mother for his "psychological" well being and the like.

The car was repossessed because the payments were not made - apparently by you. As a result of the payments not being made the car was repo-ed. Ex BF will have to pay off the loan if he co-signed with you.

If you used your company AmEx car for personal expenses you deserve losing your job, not just the use of the card. You may have lost your job because of your decisions.

It does not sound like you have any basis for a defamation claim.
