Quit claim vs. inheritance tax

I have been told to it is better to quit claim my property while I am living to avoid my relatives paying inheritance taxes. is this true?

Only if you want to take the risk of being evicted from your own house. The only safe thing to do is to create a trust and title the home in the name of the trust. At your death the trust still owns the house and can transfer it to your designated heirs - or sell it and disburse the money to the heirs. DO NOT QUIT CLAIM IT TO ANYONE.
