notification of hearing timeframe

my sons case is at the supreme court level, on thur. i checked the info site and saw no schedualed hearings. I again checked on fri. and saw that earlier inthe day a hearing was held. my son who is in prison received a notice from his attorney the day before the hearing but said she wasnt going to be at the hearing , she would call in her statement...WHat is this?

There are certain kinds of hearings

scheduled by appellate courts in which attorneys representing a party in appeal status are permitted to participate by teleconferencing. This kind of hearing would most likely involve matters of lesser importance and might be referred to as a status hearing of some kind which would be unlikely to concern issues which could affect the ultimate disposition(outcome) of the case on appeal itself.
