Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

registering a small Minotiry news tabloid

Hello,

I want to know the process of registering a small tabloid, catering to one particular minority group in Virginia. Say, tabloid for indian community and friends. Who (immigration status) can register for such tabloids (newspaper)? How much would it costs for the registration process ?

Thank you for early response.

Re: registering a small Minotiry news tabloid

Because your question is not very clear, I am concerned that you should really talk to a lawyer to understand exactly what you need to do and how things work here. I am not expensive for that purpose.

Of course, in America, you do not need to register to be a newspaper. You can simply start to print a newspaper without asking anyone's permission or registering.

However, what you probably mean to ask is how can you register a company in general and you are simply letting the attorney know what type of business.

You can start a business without registering a company, except that you probably need to get a business license from your County in Virginia. However, the name is misleading. This is NOT a business license, really, it is simply registering to pay taxes to the local County.

Probably you will want to incorporate your newspaper, not to treat it as a personal business. This can be done for between $400 and $1000 in Virginia.
