Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

Parents dis-agree with being engaged

I was wondering if my fiance's parents can tell us if we can continue seeing each other. We're both 18, and live with our parents, but I no longer go to high-school (getting my GED), and have no job (that being the root of the problem). They told me today (01/26/02) that I have 2 months to get a job, or they won't allow they're 18 year old daughter to see me anymore. I doubt that they can legally do this, but want to make sure if it's true or not. I need a response soon, I'm not willing to, for any reason, let her parents ruin our relationship.

Re: Parents dis-agree with being engaged

Legally, they can't stop her - she's an adult. But they can require her to leave the house, and otherwise put pressure on her.
