overcharged phone bill without consent

dear sir, i was charged $3 per minute for international call. long distance telephone company charged me basic rate, actallly the highest, because the company had not received any direct contact from me.(i forget to call the long distance carrier about discussing the program they provide after i asked the local carrier to designate that long distance carrier. the long distance carrier says they have made the right decision, so they do not give any credit to me.

The long distance and local carriers are undoubtedly completely separate companies. In your

case the local carrier, apparently, failed to

notify the long distance one that you had designated the latter your carrier of choice for long distance calls. And since you yourself never contacted them, the long distance carrier had no way of knowing of your choice, and therefore could not offer you the preferred or discounted rate.

You cannot hold the long distance carrier responsible for something that the local carrier should have done but failed to do. (Nevertheless, it would've been nice if this company had, in the interest of customer relations, if nothing else, made an adjustment in what you were charged for the call.)
