What rights do I have when the police impound a car for evidence in a traffic accident in 2003 and now the car is gone with no notice to myself or the lien holder.

Hard to say on these few paltry facts. It would help to know (assuming you're the owner of this car) if you (or someone else driving the car) were ever charged and prosecuted for a crime in which the car somehow was allegedly involved. It would also be useful to know the circumstances under which the car remained in police custody for some 7-8 years and the explanation(if any)

that the cops may have provided (if any) for the vehicle's disappearance.
