Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

If I have a 3 year old credit card debit that was $8,000 when I stoped paying and now the creditor has it at $22,000 do I have to pay this amount and If I live in Virginia and work in Northcarolina can they garnish my wages

Maybe and, quite possibly, if the collector can locate your employer.

(FYI, if the card is considered what's termed an open account, enforcement

action may already be barred in Virginia by the three year statute of limitations

on such accounts.)
