Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

What can I do if the car salesman sues me?

At least the fact that he can sue us is clear. However, what can be done to prevent a lawsuit. My husband is 21 and I am only 19 and in the navy. I didn't sign any of the papers on the truck. Will this affect me? Can their be a settlement made? They said they MIGHT WOULD CONSIDER a $2000.00 settlement. Is this reasonable for a 99 Ford Ranger 4x4? At the most he put 200 miles on the vehicle. Another thing, will this affect my husband's credit.....how about mine? What do you suggest we should do about this matter? How serious is this? Thank you again for your time.

Better see a lawyer about this. $2000 seems quite high for 200 miles of driving of a vehicle already some seven years old.
