Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Marshall from another state wants to serve me

My previous employer is located in the Atlanta, GA area and a County Marshall came by the office looking for me. They stated I was no longer employed there and his response was ''That makes my job easier, now I dont have to arrest anyone today.''

My old manager emailed me and I called him to get this story. I called the County Sheriff back in Atlanta, as well as the Police department in the town I used to reside in. Neither found a warrant in my name, nothing came up in NCIC.

Should I hire an attorney to contact the marshall (he serves the area where my old office is) or should I contact him myself? Should I hire an attorney in Arlington, VA where I reside or back in Atlanta? Any other advice on my next course of action?
