Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Sold a car

I recently sold a car on ebay. the buyer paid me through Paypal with a credit card.Paypal accepted the payment and deposited the money in my bank acount.I delivered the car to the buyer and signed the title over to him. One month later I get a notice from Paypal the payment has been reversed. they gave the guy back his money and he has my car in another state. Now paypal says i owe them the money back. Do I have to pay them and if so can I have the guy arrested for stealing my car? Because right now he has the car and i have to pay for it! Please help!

Re: Sold a car

You have not explained why Paypal reversed the payment some 30 days after the transaction was completed. (One could surmise that the buyer for some reason became unhappy with his purchase and notified his credit card company that he wished to place the matter in contest. The credit card company would then have notified Paypal that there was some problem with the transaction and most likely requested a charge back on the transaction. Thereupon, Paypal, perhaps, without contacting you and performing an adequate investigation of the matter, then refunded the money and now wants you to pay them.)

Without knowing more about the car you sold and any representations you may have made as to its condition to the buyer, it would be imprudent to attempt to offer any advice as to what course of action you should now take with respect to paypal's demand for reimbursement.
