Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

What are the steps to take to expunge records

What is the general fees to get someones record expunged? This person who is interested has a felony cocaine possesion on his record from 2000. Its very difficult for him to get a job. That is The Only crime on his record, he doesnt even have a traffic offense. He is and has been clean since and this offense is haunting him in being able to find a job. It is also affecting me too. I am his girlfriend and Im the one working while he stays home cause nobody will give him a chance.

I regret to report that records of criminal convictions in the Commonwealth are not expungable. See Va. Code Sec. 19.2-392.2 et seq.

Unfortunately you are up against the Economic Death Penalty (the confluence of the war on drugs and the prevalence of denying employment to people with criminal convictions that are mostly irrelevant to the job). If I were Your Friend I would move to another locality where a cocaine possession conviction might not be considered as disqualifying for employment as it apparently is in your area. Or he could go into business for himself. Necessity can be the mother of entrepreneurship.
