my boyfriend passed away yesterday, I have been living with him for 10 years and his eldest daughter is hiding everything from me. We are scared that she is going to be able to take my house, and my cars. is there a common law in virginia? they have already gotten into his bank accounts and safety deposit box.

No, common law marriage is not recognized in Virginia, but, nonetheless,

you have the absolute right to claim all property that belongs soley to you,

and, if necessary, to file a Warrant in Detinue in the local general district court

for the return of such property against the person who is wrongfully withholding it from you.
