Re: Child Step parent adoption

No, a petition for a step-parent adoption needs to be filed in the appropriate court in behalf of your husband, and your former husband notified of the pending court action and given an opportunity to either contest or cooperate with the process of terminating his parental rights to his child and allowing your husband to become the child's adoptive father.

You should arrange for a consultation with a local attorney with the appropriate knowledge and experience with respect to adoption matters and who should be able to further advise you on the specifics of your particular case.
