Getting a divorce

Hi I am writing this about my friend who is married for eighteen years. They have two kids one is seventeen and other fourteen. He back to his country laving his two kids with his wife in USA about two years ago. Can my friend can get divorce from him according to American law. If so what is requirement and producers for this anyone help me.

If the wife remains in the United States with the two teens, the answer is, yes, if she meets the residency requirements for the particular state in which she resides, the wife can get

a divorce under that state's laws even though her husband has returned to his native land.
