Golfer Breaks Window

I live on a golf course If a golfer breaks a window in your house and he admits to it, is he financially responsible for replacing the window?

Assuming that your property is not actually on the golf course itself but nearby and an errant balls smashes through one of your windows, the person

who hit the ball on the trajectory to your window would be responsible for the damage.
