Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Room mate refused to pay cable and phone bill

I live in a two bed room apartment

with a friend. I signed up for cable and

a telephone service in my name but

when the bill came, my room mate

said, I did not did not tell him before I

signed up for those services and

besides he doesn't use the home

phone. Every body calls him on his cell

phone. Can I take legal action to make

him pay? Thanks

Re: Room mate refused to pay cable and phone bill

Sure, you can always sue, but I doubt that you would be able to recover much of anything from your suit in small claims court---and you might well lose the roommate in the process and end up having to pay the entire rent yourself.

(For whatever it's worth, however, your rommmate's position on this issue is not reasonable and you can tell him that I said so.)
