Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
Can they go after the one who caused the accident?
I moved into my mother's house when she remarried to take care of my nephew. My nephew started a fire in the kitchen and the house does have home owners insurance. The company is saying they may pay for the damage but come after my 19yr old nephew or may not cover it at all. Can they do that?
The insurance is suppose to cover the house no matter who did the damage correct?? I pay some money to my mom but i would not call it rent cause it does not cover the whole mortgage.

Re: Can they go after the one who caused the accident?
You should consult with an attorney to review the terms of the insurance policy and to determine whether this particular situation is covered or
not by the policy. It may be that the policy excludes liability on the part of the insurer for actions deliberately caused by legitimate occupants of the house.
