Paying for lost equiptment

If I did not sign an agreement at any time before or during my employment, can my previous emplorer make me pay for equiptment that was accidently lost.

Only if they can succeed in securing and enforcing a judgment against you

for the fair market value of the equipment----unless the company has assets belonging to you such as severance pay from which the cost of the equipment could be deducted.
